Scale material.

I won this razor last night and was curious as to what the scale material is. At first I was thinking bone maybe but then I saw picture #4 the pivot area of the scales looks like old paint cracking. I have never seen this brand of razor, nor cracking on any scales before. Also does anyone have any info. I see that it says ground in Hamburg, but not where it was made.

Wow that one is gorgeous. Well I guess that is a good example to follow there. I might have to rescale it I guess.

Re scaling would not be the end of the world considering that is a very nice looking blade.

Oh no, I know that. I have plenty of scale material laying around. Just like to keep the razors as original as possible. Maybe I will make this a fancy shmancy razor. Any body know if the etching is deep enough to sand out the pitting without having to worry about removing the etching. This will be my first shoulder less blade and I have always wanted one so I am super excited about that. I am glad to see its a good reputation behind the razor.

Never get the pitting all out. Still, a nice blade. Scales are cell, junk. You got it right. Have fun with it! JMO

Yeah I am still working on that W&B that you helped me out with. I am trying to get the scales just right now. Ive been a little sidetracked. Got a promotion at work and got some giant arkansas stones that need breaking in and lapping on one. But the W&B is almost done.

Well thought I would update you guys with the razor. I got it in this morning. I actually went out to the mailman and got it from him. He asked me what it was and I told him it was a straight so maybe I will have made a convert.

Anyways I got this razor unwrapped and it had a chip in it. Didn't matter I was going to keep it regardless and thought I saw a chip in the pictures anyways. These scales are crap though. The blade isn't that clean either but its not bad. Maybe I will touch it up with some polish. I am thinking maybe black palm for scales. A classy wood for a classy looking razor.

Anyways this is my first shoulder less blade. Let me tell you this was a dream to hone. Super easy and super fast. I will be shaving with it tomorrow and tell you how it turns out but I can already tell it will be a dream to shave with and will most likely become one of my favorite razors.
