KAMA razor
I went to the barber I have been going to for a few months now for a mop chop.
He is the 79 year old Italian guy, career barber I have mentioned before.
He does straight razor shaves and has a good amount of straights on hand in his trolley and on his bench, a varying assortment of brands and sizes.
I asked him which was his personal favorite and he pulled out a KAMA razor that I hadn't seen him use before, the scales were tri-coloured in the Italian flag style.
In his thick Italian accent he says " this a one isa the best " In His opinion.
Are there any members that own or regularly use a Karma razor?
How do you find their edge and shave results?
I looked on the Bay and there were 3 or 4 available, but fetching good prices too.

Thanked: 459It's a solingen razor. Expect any significant difference from his razor vs. any others at the time would have more to do with his preferences for the grind, the weight, etc, than anything else. Most of the solingen razors of the era that the older kamas came from were a lot alike in terms of their ability to hold an edge.
They are a classy looking razor, but I wouldn't get too wound up on the brand name, especially now that if the razor is only several decades old, you never know who actually made it.

WetShaveObsession, sounds like the ideal razor and yours looks like a great one!
I won't buy one until my skills are better or I by chance came across a good one at a can't pass it up price.
More building my wish list and looking for feed back. If the general consensus is they are a quality shaver then great, allot of personal preference is involved as well.

Gentlemen,
I owned a Kama razor, a 6/8 round point, and thought it an excellent shaver. Good stuff.

Thanked: 8I got a 6/8 KAMA off the bay and it's the best forty bucks I've spent for a razor. Honed easy, shaves like a dream, and holds a great edge. It is the #1 razor in my rotation.

I think I have 10 or so Kamas ranging from 5/8 to 7/8 round points and square points. I like everything about them. The tail fits my little finger just right, the balance is good, they take and hold a good edge. There are always 6 Kamas in my 12 razor rotation.

Thanked: 581My KAMA is one of the best I have. Plain Jane but shaves are just superb. If you can get one at a fair price I would say go for it.
