Thread: Questions on a Boker razor

I picked up this razor on ebay for a very decent price.
It turned out to be much nicer shape than it looked in the photos, and in my photos here, as well.
Is this a good example of Bokers?
What attracted me was the extra hollow grind. I'm looking for a razor that "pings" like they did when as a kid, when the barber would shave around the ears and the back neck.
I spoke with Lynn, this week, about that very thing; maybe he will comment on this razor if he reads this post.
It was dead dull as received. I set the bevel, and stepped through the stones, pastes and strop before using in tonight's shave.
It came to life, but my honing is not good yet, producing a fair shave (including a nicked ear; first time with a pointed blade. LOL). Oh yeah, it didn't ping.
I may send this one out for honing.

Nice looking razor. The only boker I have gives a great shave. Well worth getting it pro honed, then you would have a benchmark to match your own honing efforts.

Bokers are great razors. I have a couple. Yours looks like an older one and with the fancy edge you got a winner there.

Had a few go through my hands, they all took great edges..

I doubt it will ever sing like the ones you remember. Even though it's marked extra hollow, the blade is still thicker than the models that came after.

As technology advanced, the blades were ground thinner and thinner. Probably after 1900 or so is when the "singing" razors came into being.

It will shave superbly when you get the edge right.

You are saying this one is pre 1900 ?
