Wish mine had the HEATHEN CHINEE on the back side.
That first razor Jimmy posted reminded me that I've got a blade w/no scales shaped like that one with the AMERICAN RAZOR and eagle etch on it. Been watching for a set of period scales to get it properly dressed.
Poor pic; :(

I'm of the same mind set as Jimmy. I like 'em in original clothes and don't care for 'em shined up like a new penny. I figure they got their warts and scratches by honest wear and that is as much of their history as the razor itself. I generally just clean off the active rust and give a light polish with Mothers and run 'em.
I have two blades with original scales, they looked solid so they wouldn't potentially damage the blade or me, and they weren't bug bitten. If they are in solid shape, I would probably keep the original. If I swap out the scales, I usually ask Valery to salvage what hardware he can to the use.
This one razor, didn't know when I first won it, it was my first W&B, but it is in awesome condition, this one is all original:

And in terms of polish, everyone knows I like em gunk free and nice and shiny, because I like shiny things....:p
Great pics!

LOL - no, if anything an addictive brain that when I do something, I do to extremes...I've learned over the years to let some of that go, and enjoy the now, much better way to live, but some things are part of our nature, and I get a real sense of joy finding these pieces of history, and I take the time each day, to focus on shaving, and not let my head start running away with things I have to do, or should've done, or could've done differently, helps set the tone of the day for me.
Aside from that, I also like clean, shiny razors that the water beads off of.....:D
My wife knows that when I focus on something that she had better put on her rubbers because there is a tsunami coming that will envelope both of us in a crushing wave of enthusiasm for that subject. But after 30+ years together, she has not figured out that all of my interests have one common theme and usually those interests have lain dormant until some spark ignites it to become a raging inferno of passion for it. Fortunately, that inferno has never wavered in my passion for her. I do have a tendency to drive her crazy with my single minded approach to a subject. She invariably knows that any conversation will be about said subject. I made the comment about wanting to take a motorcycle ride to Cape Girardeau one weekend and she instinctively knew that it had something to do with SR's.
Any time I see a W & B owned by someone other than Phrank I think he is either asleep when it sold, indisposed by nature, letting his wife know she exists or is a coma. Go for it Bishop Prank, your Pope has given you dispensation for W & B acquisitions (greed in other religions).:chapeau:rock::gl:
Good looking blades gentlemen. Just something about W&B's, they're like the Harley Davidson's of straight razors...
Well, I see where you're going with that, but I think the W&B's, being English in origin, would be more like the Triumph, Norton, or BSA motorcycles of the straight razor world. Be careful, we don't want us colonials getting our fellow English SRP members, "miffed", "peeved", or down right, "cross" with us!:nono:
Here is my W&B family... I've been in the meat/grocery business for over 35 yrs... what else would a meatcutter shave with??? My wife is waiting for the cleaver to come out... na... that's what the 7/8 is for :rock:Attachment 172164
Ok all of this is sweet and dandy. ... who will sell me a good one in good shape for a good price. .. :(
Definitely more like a Triumph, common, and everybody had one. Interestingly these bigger W&B blades are fetching what I paid for my first Bonneville in the day. Should have kept that bike.
Here are my Harley's (sorry ladies)

If you rarely use it, don't like to get it dirty and it's an over glorified piece of man jewelry, then yes, it would be comparable to a Harley.

have to share mine too, sorry i just got it and haven't had time for the restoration.
ive got one Harley that's had over 300k put on it ,, and many Harleys since so don't go there and yes it should be the triumph, as stated the Harley would be a fine Charlie Lewis or a Max! tc
by the way joel if you go to cape and see lynn you might not want to insult Harleys to a man who rides one and has a lot of sharp razors around!! just a thought
:OT
I've got a Triumph and a Harley, and love em both :)
And neither leak oil - yet... You gotta get that trans to line up with the motor juuuuust right so the primary is not preloaded :)
Nice razors everyone.
Apparently you never owned a knucklehead. :rofl2:
The rear rocker tin gasket was blown out on my old knuck. It POURED 70wt onto the rear pipe. WEhn I'd pull up at stop light, it looked like my nuts were on fire. It would smoke for 20 minutes after I killed it.

No calluses on my thumb from starting that punk either.

I had a tendency to ride rude.

Those days are over for me. It was fun while it lasted. Newest Hardly Ableson I ever owned was a shovelhead.
That's awesome Wullie. I haven't owened a knuckle but would love to. I got enough grief for owning an Evo, so I don't dare get an 88 unless I want to get beaten, for a little bit at least :)
For now I stick with hardtails so that buys me some points.
I'd love to do a kicker, suicide and an older motor. Of course when I tell people that they say -WHy? haha
Sorry for taking the thread off course even more :)
we are talking bikes now? high jackers!!! luv bike... never rode before, but getting one my next duty station ... night train hopefully.
:OT
gave my 2 years a shower with my omega 10049 boar brush. he luved it hhhhhhhhhhhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, srry had to share it

any thoughts on this one? and don't steal it for urself :P
Money is not discussed in these posts. All subjective anyway. It's worth is what you are willing to pay to own it. Happy droo*****I'm mean bidding. If I didn't have more than enough razors at the moment I'd fight you for it. Have fun.
I hate the collars on that thing. I've gotten a beat up, but still plenty usable 8/8 FBU for $80.00 on the bay. The one I got for $15.00 on a BIN was just right place, right time. It would probably easily bring $300. Anyway, a lot of nice W&Bs go for relatively reasonable prices if you keep your eyes peeled and don't jump on the high dollar ones. Here is the beat up $80.00 one, note that it is in the same condition as I got it in, other than my honing it. That is by preference ..... YMMV . Great shaver BTW ;

This thread needs to be tacked on to the Butcher Shop club! Just saying!
Dunno how I could have forgotten this 'holy grail'. It has the etching the belly of the blade, just doesn't show well in the photos ......... ;

Hey Phrank...
Of all the beautiful W&B razors you have, what is your favourite to shave with? For me its the anchor, I love the weight and gssixgun's honing was fantastic.
What W&B thread is complete without a 15/16 frameback!
