Darn, you made me count ;). I'm not that bad yet, only 30 straights and 2 DE. A lot of those were trying different grinds and styles to figure out what I liked best.
I enjoy not having to think about which one to use. I just open the log and fine one with the less use, look at the picture and size then open that drawer.

I am on razor detox for a year now. Starting from hoarding about 15-20 excellent
vintage DE razors, Ive managed to reduce my requirements
to 2 Wolfman razors and I plan to add 2 straights. I don't need any more.
I dont know how many razors I own. I have a five razor rotation, that is four Sheffields and a Frenchy. A box of german blades, a box of US blades, and a box of English.
I'm glad the art of straight razor shaving lives on, on the other hand we're all obsessively nuts.
I decided to cull the herd so I sold my first one on eBay...then promptly turned around and bought another one.
It is not a question of how many you own, but how many are left to restore.
Probably had 40 at one time...trying to figure out what I liked .....and after 10 years...iam down to the select 10
Not sure if OP is asking how many we shave with or how many we have in general . that said , I am a collector.
I have somewhere around 180. have not counted them in a while. and about a dozen or so that I am making
new scales for. I am sure everyone knows what happens when you are gifted with your first straight. yep , BOOM ,
I was infected with the Gottahavemoreittus. its like a bug that gets under your skin and you have to satisfy it ,
somehow. needless to say it turned out that I now collect " anything " shaving " related "
I just counted yesterday, and I am happily under 75 blades total. I was sorting them by nation of origin and I discovered that I have equal numbers Sheffield and German. I am not trying to get the German ones, but it seems that every time that I buy a lot of blades, German ones predominate.
Just over 2 dozen from memory. I likely need to cull a few razors from the quiver but am in no hurry to do so. Just don’t care to sell off razors that I bought for whatever reason.
Yikes, since last I posted in 2014, with about 35 W&B's and a few assorted others, I'd say now I'm well over 160 razors.
10 day set of W&B The Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor for Barber's Use, about 40 other assorted W&B's, dozens of Sheffield makers, and then a United Nations of various makers, with a side collection of my beloved Frame Backed razors.
Have sold about 5 of them, and gifted 2, and still get a cold clammy feeling whenever I have a brief thought of selling a razor......:rofl2:
I have many but not too many :D Mostly Joseph elliots..
I'm approaching 400

I just showed that to my wife. "See? I don't have it THAT bad." I only have just over 100.
Im with ya Paul. Makes me look good too.
Is Joed .....still on here ? He had a nice collection of Cadillac C-Mon’s
Are we taking about razors my girlfriend knows about or a total total?
WOW...to those who have 100s, do you use them/most of them? is it just a fun: "let's see what I use today?!" thing?
That is part of it for sure. There is also the collecting of rare or unusual razors, and the repair and restoration aspect. I do have my most commonly picked razors. Oddly enough very rare razors often sell for much less than the hyped razors and those with a large fan following base. Razors made in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s in need of repair are often seen for under $50. There are some here that only have very rare or unusual razors in their collection.
Ooh that's a good point actually, makes me feel a bit better about possibly buying razors outside of a need! :) Interesting what you said about rare vs hyped though. I've found 1700s razors to be rare (esp. those that aren't broken beyond repair in some way) for sure, but those that I've seen are often quite expensive...but maybe that's just me. The 2 I've gotten from ebay have been about US$200 (before restoration). The first really old razor I got - my fox&norris from a member of this forum I ended up paying <$100 in all including restoration.
I'm a BIG fan of very old Sheffield razors so I'd very much like to find more, but I'm increasingly finding ebay to be almost nonsensical in terms of price if prices on this (and other) FORUMS are to be taken as norm. Sadly, however, my local antique stores are even WORSE.
As always if you put in the time watching you will find bargains, you just need to enjoy the watching and looking for it to be worth the effort. I likely buy one for every hundred razors on my watch list and don’t get to look through antique stores often but enjoy it when I get the chance.
I only have one black and one white scaled razor.
That way when SWMBO asks why I have taken the black razor apart 3 times this week and polished it and honed it I can tell her that it just isn't right yet and I am trying to get it perfect!:rofl2:
I have a 15 slot barber box where most of my regular rotation lives but I will also go through the main box and say, "Hello beautiful. Haven't seen you for a while." At least once a week I'll go visit the girls and see who I haven't danced with for a while. Of course there are a number of them who need work or are in various stages of restoration, and some that have just not become wind chimes yet.
I have 6.
1 5/8 round point
2 5/8 smilers
2 5/8 square point
1 tiny little blade, very cute square point but haven't tried it yet.
I know exactly what I have so obviously I need a lot more.
Steve
Wow. I'm definitely an underachiever here.
2 DE (1 three piece, 1 twist to open)
1 vintage straight that was a PIF
1 GD that was a PIF to learn how to shave with then (when I messed up the edge) learn to sharpen.
2 brushes, because my wife doesn't use her brush with the Feather TTO DE she owns.
Pretty sure she'll be fine with me getting a nice second vintage razor so I can pass on the GD to another newbie. Past that, I don't know that I'll keep aquiring.
I mean, I don't have a problem and can stop anytime I want, right?
:tu. At least you didn't say "never." You don't start collecting on purpose. It happens accidentally. I had my one heirloom from my Dad which I think was my grandfather's and wanted to get one NOS to start my own tradition so I went to an antique store and found one. They were all so beautiful...what was I supposed to do? . Before you know it you have over 100 and some you forget you have. Another mistake you can make is getting them to clean up and sell. If you do a really nice job on it then it's hard to let go of. I've done that with a bunch of them. They don't call it RAD (Razor Acquisition Disorder) for no reason. It becomes addictive. One word of advice: if you don't want to, or don't think you should acquire too many then do yourself a favor and don't save a search on eBay because just about daily you'll get a notification that new results matching your saved search have appeared... Or just give in like so many of us do and come over to the dark side. Welcome to the hotel California.:roflmao
