Like the glut of all German razors in the 1920 and 1930s a deal had been made infer the Dawes Act thar would allow German razors into the USA duty free that's why a lot of German razors flooded the States in those years. The steel on all those blades os probably Krupp steel who a lot of fine German steel for there war machine

Sorry about the poor writing but I'm a monkhouse freak ans recently heard this. Probably monkhouse and some others became enemies to the regime and got out when the getting was good

4 year old thread topping up. As far as I am concerned the current market CMON's are junk. YMMV. : )

I agree my monkhouses are specifically all from the 1920s 30s and I have 1 made in Spain and a filly. I have multiple blackies the older cadillac. I heard the new cmon is a cheap replica made by dovo that cant hold an edge. All i wamt is a a dubl duck and puma jpMichel's version and I would be set. Have mug strop and brush from the older era. I was just giving a fact to why so many cutlery stores bought germans. But my knew adventure is to find the right kamisori. Been trying to learn there history but the ultimate is to shave with a samurai sworc

Regarding C-Mon's, I have to add that the vintage ones are incredible shavers. I have an 11/16 Blackie square point that has constantly been at the top of my rotation. It ranks with or better than any of the big name, heavy hitters IMHO.
