For me...personally...I love the longer blades. Especially the vintage Greaves, etc., from the 1830's with the Spanish points. BUT...I like the shorter ones also!
I also have a goatee and prefer the shorter blades, 65-70mm is good for me. But several razors I love have long blades, 78mm Tanifuji or 75mm French point Bokers as examples. I think you just get used to it though I have to watch the toe of a long blade more carefully or it can get into my glasses.
Cheers, Steve
one of if not my favorite razor i own !! this one is one of the longer one's (3 1/4) and my first Greaves that started it all !! not the 3 1/2" but it feels like a sword compared to the 3" and under

I remember watching a video Lynn(?) made a while back about the size of blade he recommended to new guys. I seem to remember him mention not being too comfortable with anything over the 3", IIRC.
I didn't lobe myself, but I sure did bury the tip in my cheek a couple times. I'm far less comfortable with over 3". For me, like said above, I would have to think long and hard.
Merry Christmas
