One razor to rule them all...

Major here's another option to consider. If you want a custom one of a kind razor, start searching ebay for (stabilized knife blanks scales, stabilized maple burl knife blanks, spalted wood pen knife blanks or Acrylic knife blanks). This ebay seller has the nicest one's I've seen but he is currently out of stock. When he list them they sell out immediately, ebay seller craigstevensstudio83. I've also purchased nice blanks from ebay seller isewoods in Hawaii. Purchasing your own blanks allows total customization of your special one of a kind razor.

The blanks need to be a minimum of six inches in length. Six inches will accommodate scales for a large razor. My #14 filly is just a tad over six inches. Contact Scott at Portland Razor Company. If you send him your blanks, pictures, and details of the razor. He can build a custom razor to your specifications. A great razor manufactured in the USA.

I have a custom 8/8 blade, 1/4 hollow grind razor with spalted maple wood scales from PRC. It's by far the smoothest shaving, and prettiest looking razor I own. Good luck finding a genuine ivory scaled 8/8 Heljestrand too. Same ballpark. Something to consider is whether you want a full hollow or a stiffer grind. I say that because if you want full hollow I don't think there are any custom makers who can or do duplicate the commercially made full hollows, such as the Filly, Henckles, Helje, and what not.

You already have a very impressive collection - and some great suggestions have been offered.
Do not forget to consider a kamisori.

I've never seen any razor that I'd be willing to dish out that kind of money for, vintage or custom. Personally, I'd take $200 MAX, find a really, really nice vintage razor (I'm not talking hyped razors such as Heljestrands or Filarmonica's, which I believe to be fetching inflated prices, I'm talking real nice) and spend the rest on, say, a few lovely dinners or nights out with people I'd care for. Or save it up, for travel or such

But that's just me. I understand that other people have different ideas on a lot of things :o
