One razor to rule them all...
So I get my HUGE pay raise in January. 1% - woo hoo!! God bless the Army. Looking to get one REALLY nice razor - and by really nice I mean $500-600. Looking for either a custom or vintage, FULL size. 8/8 or whatever is the biggest. Anyone have some thoughts? PM is open.

Thanked: 118Careful you may find that the additional 1% puts you in a new tax bracket and you're making less now!
May your lather be moist and slick, the sweep of your razor sure, and your edge always keen!

Thanked: 4830Pick a 14 and give it a whirl. There are a few common 14 brands, there is also the Henckels 17 and the old Sheffield wedges. That concludes my top brand and style that tend to be a little more pricey. You can pay a lot for a razor with over the top scales.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Good luck finding a genuine ivory scaled 8/8 Heljestrand too. Same ballpark. Something to consider is whether you want a full hollow or a stiffer grind. I say that because if you want full hollow I don't think there are any custom makers who can or do duplicate the commercially made full hollows, such as the Filly, Henckles, Helje, and what not.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

If any of you could provide links to where I can buy, that would be appreciated. Only been into this for a year, so I'm still a shopping novice.
