using citric acid may change the Ph of the water however it does nothing to the offending minerals. They are still there. The high Ph is a by-product or symptom of the minerals. Those minerals have to be removed to eliminate the problem.

I have found that using a microfiber towel keeps my water spots away.

I bow to your superior knowledge Sir. Your comments are appreciated however it reduces the carrier effect so these minerals stay in suspension effectively remaining "more slippery" and limiting the deposits, I think. It definitely improves lather production though.

Flitz polish works well to remove patina on carbon steel. I'm not sure I would use it on a Gold wash etching.

Haven't been able to restock on Fitz but Maas also works well. I don't have gold wash on any of my blades but Maas does a good job on my razors.

Maas works great!

I never tried Maas, but I heard that it works well. I got a large tube of Flitz from Amazon as I have about 85 hand made knives in 01 steel. Even so, the Flitz tube that I have will likely last me the rest of my life, so I may never have a need to get the Maas.

I like to know what kind of oil is recommend to use for the blade.

I was told mineral oil works fine so that's what I've used so far. No corrosion problems to date and I live by the ocean in a tropical country.

I had wanted to try Ballistol but I don't know what I'd do with 16 ounces of lube.

1. Use renaissance wax 1 a month
2. Use mineral oil after each shave
3. Forget about water and sink when shaving. Use microfiber towel to whipe when shaving.
