They aren't designed for shaving. Just a showpiece.

I intend to get right on that just as soon as I capture Big Foot, get Jimmy Hoffa a proper burial and find the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow...All kidding aside, I doubt that anyone is going to waste their time trying to put an edge on something that is not suitable for honing.

Saw one guy that used a ST to make a stage prop with squirting blood for a Drama group putting on the play.

Even if it did have a spine, it probably wouldn't take an edge because of how bad the steel is.

Dad always yells at my brother and I when we are in the Grocery store - we open the freezer door with the Mrs. Paul's Fish sticks - yelling out "hellooooo Jimmy" - cause there is a little bit of Jimmy in every bite...

You could ask this fellow. He was going to give it a try.

I bet we never heard back from him.
There is nothing about those props even slightly resembling a razor that allows them to be honed.

I bought one of the Boker magnum sweeney Todd's as a pocket knife. The knife acts like a true razor in that it pivots right through. No lock back feature.
So I modified mine a bit, making a proper thumb notch area.
Laid two pieces of tape on either side of where the spine is most prominent and spent a bunch of time on the stones..
Certainly not the long lasting edge of every other razor I own, but it does shave.
And covers my face in one pass too, lol.

It's as close to a two minute shaver as I own.
Not a testimonial or recommendation to buy one of these to shave with!!!!.
    I just had some fun...
    Cheers.
