I've only had a couple of Henckles but they were indeed great shavers. Most Solingen razors from that era were, even those from obscure makers who aren't as well known, or as expensive when found.

Henckles are great shavers for sure, and that one looks like it could be made serviceable for sure...BUT, it doesn't look like it's shave ready to me. Look closely at the bevel near the heel and you'll see that it's pretty well been 'ground on' rather heavily, and it appears like there is a spot of rust on the edge a little forward of that. Blow the picture up to about 200% and you'll see what I mean.

I did just that wolfpack and i see what your saying. I did not notice until i blew up the pic. Thanks for the reply.
Hello Dazed,
That's a nice razor, but a little pricey for a 4/8 blade. If you don't mind honing you can find some really nice 6/8 Henkels for the less or the same. RARE 472 J A Henckels Solingen Germany Straight Razor Shaving C 356 | eBay. Be careful.
Yes have seen this on line and it is faux Ivory scales and tang cover
For the $100 asking price there are a lot of better Henkels on Japannippon I think it was on Ebay
When a seller calls celluloid scales "ivory" it means you do not want to business with him on several levels. So many other really shave ready razors out there from informed honest vendors, Henckels or not, that will serve a lifetime.
Nice blade. There is however, notable wear at the edge near the heel.
