    Question razor labelling ?

Say you have multiple copies of brand / model that are not obviously distinguishable - how are folks tracking who's who ?

I'm not thinking of stamping the tang or carving the scales or other destructive method- but even if you have them in labelled boxes if you get out 2 or more at once- then some distraction - and then the old OCD spectrum puts you in a tailspin...

There's got to be something better than a piece of tape on the scale. If you don't care to track where you got them, when honed, etc, I guess its not an issue.

I use the same method that mother Penguins use to identify their young from among the thousands that look alike; I use "Smell-Based Recognition". This method also prevents inbreeding among my razors as they spend years in the shave den.

,,,,,,,,,,actually I have not seen two razors "exactly" alike,,, there always seems to be some minor blemish either on the scales or blade that can be used to distinguish it by, plus all of my razors are fully photographed upon arrival & given their own file.

It always comes down to the smell.

I put a little colored dot of paint on the bottom side of the wedge. And by little I mean 1/2 a mm or less - just enough for me to identify the dot if I hold it up close. I also use colors that are close to either the wedge or the scale. So if I have two of the same razors with black scales and white wedges, one will have a white dot on the wedge and the other will have a black dot on the wedge near the scales.

That explains why razors seem to appear out thin air huh

Mine have names...I call them, they come. Trained them when they were new.

Never seen two identical razors ,, even new they all seem to have something minutely different. Tc

Ever sat down with 20 of the same model, brand new razor to hone them? They may have little differences, but you probably wouldn't take the time or care enough to spot them...

I remember what is what by where it is. If I had to label, I'd rather label the holder in some way or the place that each razor sits than label the razor.

Why do you have two razors of the exact same brand/ model? Though unless they're new/ NOS, I'd imagine they'll each have their unique blemishes.
