Default London Cutlery Co - Little Valley, NY???

London Cutlery Co. Little Valley NY

Trying to research this one but not finding much. Was hoping someone here may be able to help. My first thought was that it was likely made by one of the Case related companies. Any thoughts???

Lots of names on Little Valley razors. I had a 'Legal Razor' from there as well. Could not find anything on it.
As in most of these cases, I highly suspect George Korn would be the maker. Should be a fine shaver.

    I rest my case.

Yep, googled it, binged it, exchanged 2 or 3 emails back and forth with the WR Case Historian, searched posts and archives here, finally decided to make a thread.

Thanks, yes he very well may be the maker, that is certainly a reasonable guess. Katie(WR Case Historian) did find one reference to a London Cutlery Company mark made in Germany, but I can't connect the dots as my razor has no other markings and no indication it is German.

Certainly at a certain point in history, lots of blades were being imported from Germany with light, temporary stamps for the purpose of being polished off, restamped and 'represented' as made in USA.

W.R. Case was above nothing to make a buck. Korn and lots of other immigrants in the business had many connections in the old country. There are several discussions on it here. As I recall, it was highly scandalous and caused a great deal of litigation and concern among American makers as they could not compete with the imports. Who knows?

The only reference I can find is that the company was in business from 1900-1930...

At a time in razor history, having "Little Valley, NY" on a razor meant good quality, Case, Korn, Cattaraugus and others all imported from Germany like Tom said. There was a London Cutlery co in Sheffield i dont know if Mike is reffering to that one. London Cutlery Co from Little Valley NY is not mentioned once in 200 plus years of Newspaper from that region?

That said im sure its a quality razor, Enjoy it!

Little Valley was the Solingen of the U.S back in the 1800s and early 20th Century. There were many many outfits making cutlery in that area. There still are some outfits left like Cutco and Oneida. No razors though.
