I have been extremely excited about this razor from the get-go, as I am a huge fan of horn scales. Well after a bit of waiting here she is! Blonde horn translucent scales with a dark contrasting wedge of horn as well. This is the new blade design as well, which is fantastic. Definately shave ready out of the box and the craftsmanship is top-notch all the way around. Here is one pic...if you guys want a few more let me know...and what angles you would like to see!

It was a bit longer than that for me, but I did order custom scales as well as changed to the new design after my order once it was announced....so to be fair, I was the cause of my own delay.Quote:

I placed an order on Feb 18th and checked in with Scott on April 13th. Anticipating building it this week to have it in my hand 1st / 2nd week of May.
They are behind schedule due to a flood in the building if I remember right.
I just ordered a Hydra in Ivory Acrylic, great to see someone making "production" razors, look forward to seeing how it is.

It was shipped 2-day last wednesday (4/22), however I did not get it until Monday due to some severe postal incompetence involving 2 missed deliveries when I was home, yet no contact was attempted (postal worker just left the missed delivery slip but never knocked on my door). Looking at the pic in the OP . . . is it just me, or does that notch seem "small"? Could it be the angle of the pic?
Do you mean the barber's notch? It is actually fairly small but is a nice decorative touch. I can get my index finger tip in it nicely, though I think it is much more form than function. When I decided to pull the trigger on this design, I was actually more interested in the square point, as it is just that, in the truest sense of the term. I have a light but clearly defined beard, and that square point is a very useful tool for me in terms of shaping it and keeping the lines as I prefer them.Quote:

Yes, I was referring to the Barber's notch. Looking back to their site, it is no different then in the photo, so I guess it is just my memory playing tricks on me, as I thought it was bigger than that. No worries, and it really was not a criticism of the piece, which I think is great. I went with the Hydra for mine, as I wanted a Spanish point. I already have a vintage with notch, so I went for something new, along with having it double pinned for the looks.

Great looking razor. Scott is doing some beautiful work, and it appears to be worth the wait. Fortunately, he is disciplined to produce quality instead of quantity. May it continue to be so.

The Hydra I ordered arrived today.
Apologies for my poor photography, iphone pic and oiled blade.
As advertised, beautifully packaged, fit and finish great. Complete with felt case and even a key ring, great service.
I've already shaved today, looking forward to trying it tomorrow.

The shave with the Hydra this morning did not disappoint. The razor was truly shave ready.
PRC have done remarkable things, I hope they will be around for a long time to come. I look forward to ordering a custom from them once they are over their present difficulties.
Glad to hear all went well with the shave easyace ! I was curious for one, beautiful razor you have there.
PRC is a great company and of all things......American owned and operated! Not many US handmade things left in the world. I have a Kraken from them and it is without a doubt a fine razor with the most even and precise bevel I have ever seen on a razor, even over my German beauties.
I will no doubt order more from them!
