Notsomuch. It is quite comfortable and shaves nicely. Older German steel has a softness, yet hardness about it. Somewhat like the most sublime Sheffields. Perhaps the grinding? I don't usually mess with these blades much as restoration goes. They are what they are. Old masterpieces. If not worn, they can take a fine edge easily. Makes me cringe what some spend on other stuff! JMO
