Nice set (to the OP) If you're lucky the blades will be shave ready as is. If not, Robin provided necessary info on what you'll be best served by to maintain them.
Impressive Robin. You really scored.
Thanks, Jimmy. Most of the kit was sold on at cost. For example, five or so of the boxes with Heljestrand wedges went to the moderator of a well known single edge shaving forum for something like €30. A nasty profit could have been made with that stuff, be it would have felt wrong. After all, it was the liquidation of one of Europe's few and finest razor making outfits.
We also got a bit of background information about the actual production process. All I can say is, there are more interesting brands than Heljestrand. ;)
Well I wouldn't know about the manufacturing process, but I do know about what Heljestrands I've had the pure pleasure of owning and using. So far, out of a half dozen, or a bit more, I haven't had one that wasn't 'as good as it gets' where straight razors are concerned. :)
Gorgeous, never have that type of luck. Congrats
Just a note on the Kindal-Heljestrand connection: in the early 1900's Berte Kindal (widow to Magnus Kindal) bought the Heljestrand operation: La coutellerie Kindal
It does not mention a specific year, though.
And regarding the markings on the blades (razors), apparently they are indeed initials:
Although I do not know where the person behind the eskilstuna.se website got that information from.Quote:
