So I recently bought a straight edge razor last year (Grim Blades) white pearl scales in which I kinda like it but wanting to add a new blade to my collection. Any recommendations? I usually like to go for unique items in which my favorite color tends to be Blue and prefer round tip blades 5/8". Any brands that are good?
Start watching the Classifieds of this forum. You should be able to find something that you like within a few weeks and you most likely will find that it will shave much better.
If your looking for unique I would recommend looking at vintage razors. There's tons of variety to be found if you go that route. Or for truly unique you could get a custom.

Always wanted to ask: what is the reason that Grim Blades was marked by SRP as not recommended brand?
I don't own one so can't say for my knowledge, but those who do know said they were not the best quality. And in my opinion, life's too short to buy low quality when if you pay attention, the better stuff can be bought for not much more, typically these type makers use poor steel, badly designed blade and scales and the grinds are not very well done,, Tc

To be honest I have sent my razor to get it hone and to be honest it doesn't hold up as good as my disposable one. It is dull most of the time even if I strop it with the leather belt. I like my razor to be sharp enough to cut on the first pass or two. I come to notice that when I shave with it I still have spots where I can feel the hair been left behind. I have to use my disposable one in order to finish the job and I really do not want to do that all the time. Just want to use my straight razor to get a close shave and my safety razor for my neck. I am currently trying to look for someone to hone it and as well to restore it since it has some rust spots coming out.
At one time, the Grim Blade people got Theirs Issard's & put their name on the blade but they were still stamped with the TI markings on the tang. That was the only good Grim razor that was worth having but the rest were junk which is why they are listed in the section of "Brands of Straight Razors to Avoid". I don't know if they still do that. To be honest I do plan on getting a Dovo razor in order to replace my straight edge razor now that some smart person at home wet my storage box in where I keep my razor and it got some rust in it. I need to replace it and also get a few new ones to alternate whenever I ship one out to get it honed and the others to have it close to me for my use.Quote:

If you're going to buy a new razor here's some advice---> The pretty scales aren't what cuts the whiskers it's the blade. Most of my razors have plain jane black scales but the blades are wicked sharp and stay that way. Do some research on blades then buy accordingly. When you do find a good one.............take care of it and it will take care of you the rest of your life.Quote:
