I have both, both are good. The Ralf Aust is better. It's probably the best current modern production razor that you can get. What Michael70 said is good advise. I have one of those and it shaves very, very well. I got this one, because I don't have a 7/8 and wanted something special for my birthday.

Don't forget to post pictures in the "Ralf Aust" tread.

I'm finally pulling the trigger on ordering a 6/8 Spanish tip RA. Just have to decide on the scales. He does a lot of scales in wood. Is there a downside to wood scales? Special care? Concerns? Thanks, Troy

Yeah, the more research I do the more I'm leaning towards the aust!!!

That is the one I'm looking at but I'm looking at the kit from SRD that way I can get everything I will need at once.

Pretty sure you can get this razor in the kit and it will be a great razor for sure. Good luck and let us know what you end up with.

I have 3 and you can't beat the quality and price. I owned or have owned most of the manufactured razors and short of my Mastro Livi's the Aust's are right up there in my rotation. You'll love the shave and they really hold their edge and are easy to hone.Attachment 236028

I have the a 6/8 horn-scale French Point and like it very much...beautiful work throughout, with a scalloped spine. I'm not sure you can do much better and considering the work/materials, that they aren't a pretty good value as well.
