They are all over eBay. Chinese razors.
Like new chinese razor made
To look old?
Every time I do a search for, "Ottoman Straight Razor"...that's what comes up...going on two years now....probably fake old relic...as mentioned, all over eBay.
Was it advertised as 'shave ready'?

I think it looks cool.
Those pictures look better than a lot of the ones I've seen on eBay. Because there are so many I've always just gone on the assumption that they are not that old and certainly not rare. Some of them look cool, that one looks pretty cool. I have no idea if it is a real vintage razor or even a real razor but it is absolutely a great conversation piece. If it was pretty inexpensive I'd say it is a winner, if it is actually a razor, it's awesome, if it is actually an old razor, that's the bomb.
Ask yourself...
"Am I ready?"

Hone it up!!
Yes try and put an edge on that thing. Would be interesting to see if it could be made to shave.
Attachment 241174 nThis are a bigger one FBU if you will!
They are also used in India but those have a longer spindle turned handle and colorful paint on them.

It looks like a 9-iron from that angle.
Looks like multipurpose garden equipment. Shave in the morning and cut the weeds in the afternoon.
The latest story circulating the interweb about the razor in the OP
They were used to shave Pig/Hog Skin after butchering...
I have seen them on E-bay for the last 10 years mostly advertised as Civil War Relics which we all know is Complete BS in the 1860's razors were when known and represented..
In fact we have a rather good line on razors back to the late 1600's
What these are / were I have no conclusive evidence.. I just know what there are not

Oh, no. it's back again.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:rofl2:
How do they shave? That's what I've always wanted to know. If it is in fact for shaving pigs, then fine. I have a WB I keep for shaving pigs. Hone it up and let us know. Don't worry about diseases. Contrary to popular opinion, pigs are clean animals.

Honestly to my eye that looks like a Kama, one of the Five Farmers weapons (Sai, Tonfa, Kama, Nun-Chaku, Bo)
I see that pic in the same light as this one, basically look at how sharp my tool is

I've seen a lot of people having fancy hair cuts on their dogs, but that would be a really well groomed pig that got shaved regularly!
