L'am d creux is the top phrase. It means hollow ground.
Made by Freses Cutlers (which is actually a Spanish surname that means miller)
In La Nogent, France (which has been absorbed into Paris)
Due to the common word Freses that one is going to be a pain to internet search on.
I've noticed a few things whale working on it and I have a few questions.
It looks like it was re-ground to me. Do you think the same or is this actually the original finish?
The second thing that caught my attention is that buffing the razor alone seems to have made it shave ready. Is this normal? I've never had it happen on any of my other razors.

Some French razors tend to have a coarse finish, it most likely was original. IMHO, I don't think that razor should have been unpinned and buffed. It was in nice condition and just a little polishing by hand would have worked well.
Probably but the wedge was rotting so it needs to be replaced. I'm not real shure what it's made out of. Plus I really like to remove all the gunk out from under the pins.Quote:

The wedge is made from bone, it's a common choice for French razors. Really nice razor you have there, should be an awesome shaver.

Aaron your razor was made by Lamoureux Frères, in Nogent France. Camille Pagé in is book on cutlery mentions this firm in 1871.

In 1876 an Horticulture journal subscription would give you as a prime a 3 bladed gardening knife made by Lamoureux Frères.
