Special because they are W&Bs. http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...cial-info.html
I don't think what is stamped on a vintage straight razor, like the word Special, has much meaning as to quality level. The truth in advertising laws were pretty non existent back then. Most vintage razors had to be good quality back then or they would not sell.

I purchased my "Carbo Magnetic" specifically for the marketing aspect of it. I lean towards etched blades lately. Anything unique or quirky. Love the Japanese models with "Super Extra Best Steel","Real German Hollow Ground" Etc.
So far all of them have turned out to be great razors as well. My &.02. Ken
I have a 11/16" square point W&B "Special" that has Special etched on the tang & special also on the plastic scales. Dropped this razor & broke the back scale.:(

"Special" was a very common term used with everything. It was very popular with watches too and meant nothing in most cases. it was even used with certain brands of Hot Dogs but that's another story for another time.
