Late 17th early 18th century razor

Thanks a lot for the replies to a post regarding a razor handle found by a metal detectorist. I've managed to find out it is a late 17th century early 18th century ivory razor handle made in the Netherlands.
No maker details yet If I find that I'll post it as well.

Very cool, and I love that show as well....a metal detectorist find...and not a button or a tin tab from a can.

Still laugh every time I see the Simon & Garfunkel characters on that sit com...an extremely well written show, thanks for sharing.

Not to be negative but the length looks proportionally short for a razor if the flat end is a pivot hole broke down the center. Could be wrong, just saying.

Good point. It seems like the ships surgeons were responsible for maintaining hygiene on board. Short handled razors were part of their onboard kit. I've seen a similar handle but one piece, the razor handles were two pieces rivet together, with identical decoration but an angled cut in the handle to house a pointed blade. Saying that at this stage it's still best guess!
