DOVO Best Quality 6/8th. It's kind of looked down on as cheap or a beginner's razor. I find it has a nice grind, sings well on the strop and can usually be found cheaply both new and used with some looking.

I have to say there are a lot of overlooked razors. There used to be a lot of barber supply companies. They supplied tools for professionals and had to be top of the line or barbers would not be happy. C-Mon, Dubl Duck and Hess have kind of taken a step ahead of the others, but barbers supply razors generally go for less money but are top of the line blades. Someone earlier mentioned Henckels. I am pretty sure that Henckels was the longest running razor company. The made a ton of razors, most can be had for less money than the others and most are fantastic performers. One of the best parts, they are really easy to find, finding them in premium condition at great prices, that's a little more tricky. There were also tons of people world wide making great razors for many decades. There are a lot of under rated razors, do not be afraid to try an inexpensive vintage razor that you have never heard of. I do not currently have a Russian razor but the ones I have had were great, I still have most of my eastern US made razors. There are too many good ones to name them all, but there have been some nice ones named already.
P.S.
Henckels is my favorite brand. SHHHH, it's a secret.
I was going to comment with Henckels as well. They are not exactly underrated but also never mentioned in any elite category that might include Hyashi, Filarmonica, Dorko, or Tanifuji. But do they perform every bit as well as those? Yes. Every time I see a nice one I'm tempted to buy it. But I already have three of them and that should be enough. It must be that they are everywhere that keeps them from being a holy grail item.
The first rule of [REDACTED] is that we don't talk about how great [REDACTED] straight razors are. :ziplip:
Names or brands are meaningless. It's all hype. If it's quality steel it will be a great shaver. Folks get fixated on a brand and over time the fixation moves on.
Yea but some brands are associated with quality steel the same way gold dollars are not associated with quality steel.
Having been on here for a few years, I think everything has been "rated" at one time or another.
Semantics.
