Default Mother of pearl W&B questions! Honest feed back needed!

I need some honest feedback from people with MOP Wade and butchers and online purchasers alike.

I recently got a MOP W&B off the bay and the pictures in the auction made it out to look like it was in pretty good shape. It comes and the MOP is separating from the liner on the scales, the pin is so loose that it doesn't sit straight in the scales without my help.

The person that did the auction never mentioned ANY of these issues in the description. Is this an issue with other peoples MOP razors? Should I fight and get my money back? Should I take a discount?

Ask me any questions you guys have, and what would you guys do?
    Thanks!

Loose pins are not that big of a deal. They will make your razor need to be guided closed, however they reall should be guided closed anyway.
However I think you are more concerned with the honesty of the seller and whether or not they mislead you as to the condition of the razor. So many of the people that sell razors on eBay have not a single clue about razors or razor conditions. Does the seller regularly sell razors or was this a one of. I think the intent of the seller is important. You should certainly open a dialogue with the seller. I have encountered a lot of very reasonable people on eBay.

That is pretty normal for those IME. The one I had, and the ones I've known others to have, all had loose pivots. Hard to find without at least some cracks in the pearl. I suppose the seller should have made those issues known ...... if he was a razor guy. If he was just an ebay seller clueless about razors probably wouldn't even occur to him. IMHO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

If they omitted the condition on purpose is by biggest concern, and if they are trying to make a quick buck by not showing the real condition. When you open it, it 100% obvious that it is separating from the brass liners. I think being a person that sells razors or not, how bad the MOP is separating should of been shown, no?

Whenever you buy anything on Eboy the presumption is unless defects are noted or are obvious in the pictures the seller is at fault.

Contact him and work something out, either a partial refund or return. if need be open a dispute. Eboy and paypal always lean in the direction to protect the buyer more than the seller.

This is what I would do as well. Good luck!

I can understand your frustration, it is difficult to see all you need to see in a few pics. This is really true when the person selling has no clue about razors as stated above, it is even more compounded when the person taking the pics looks like they took them while sitting on a running tractor. I do agree contact the seller and see if something can be done. On the other hand I would look at your situation in this light, if you got the razor for a fair price is it worth the dispute? IMO you don't see a lot of the W&B with MOP scales so to me you have a fairly hard to find razor, usually the ones I have seen bring decent $ on ebay, so there again if you got it for decent money then hopefully that would leave you with cushion to have it restored?
Dishonesty is all over the internet and it sucks for us the end user. I am by no means trying to play your situation down just looking at it in a different light. I would say if you can get a partial refund I would go that route and have it restored and enjoy a beautiful razor I have been wanting one of those but do to what they seem to bring I have missed out (been outbid) I wish you the best and hope you get a result you are satisfied with.
