I have had several Wackers and only one Revisor, all were sold as "Shave Ready" but we all know that "Shave Ready" is a subjective term, the razors are nicely made and had no issues.

Arriving truly shave ready isn't a really big concern as I have the ability to hone if needed. I really just want a quality razors, with a good grind and put together well. When you say the Revisor's edge wasn't up to par, are you talking about how keen it was out of the box or something else?
Edge was far from straight. It was chipped and some areas were folded over. Keen did not even come into the equation. It needed repair honing.
IMHO there's not a ton of difference in them. I would suggest picking the one that is most pleasing to your eye.
Chances are high you'll be good with either!
Matt,
I have had a parade of Wackers, Revisors and Austs pass though my humble shave den. All had to be honed. The Wackers are the prettiest of the three, especially the models in horn scales and fancy etching.
The Wackers took a good edge and were good shavers. The edge on my revisors was silky. The Austs were also good shavers after I honed them.
If I were to choose one, however, it would be Revisor, even though all of mine came from Germany with a messy edge that was far from shave ready. The Revisor took a beautiful edge, though.
Wacker, Ralf Aust.Revisor is not what it was, he left me without a razor...and without money.
I'm the person you refer to. I wrote a thread "Problem Child" several days ago about my truloubled Wacker. I own three Wackers and love them all. Yes, the one did stain almost instantly on the Coticule. The other two are still in great shape. Looks like the problem child is holding its edge, but I'll say more on that later in the other thread. I also own 3 Thiers Issard , 1 Dorko (NOS), 2 Dovo, 1 Ralf Aust, 1 Henckels. Love them all and would recommend any of them.
As suggested, get what appeals to your eye and learn to use it. I have different widths, point styles, and steels (stainless/carbon). I don't have a Revisor, but it's on my list.
