Hi,
I was wondering if there we fittings available for purchase anywhere that would fit this stem. I don't know exactly what it's called or how to find it.
I'm hoping someone here has some knowledge to share. The stem and stand are Made in Italy.

Looks like it might be an Injector possibly. Could you post closer pics of where the blade goes in?
Is there a screw you looking for or the blades?

The head does not twist off the stem either, I gently tried and it didn't look like it was one of its features.

I very lightly cleaned some of the "grit" from the upper handle rings with my nail but nothing still. Nothing seems to turn, budge or remove on the top portion. The lines that stick out where the blade would rest seem to indicate to me, that something could be slid onto it, a razor. In regards to removing a part from the top, I don't notice a groove large enough to give me the impression it's not all one piece up there.Quote:

The razor looks like it may take a Gillette Track II blade.
It looks like it takes ordinary Gillette Trac II cartridges. It probably dates from the 1980s or 1990s.

Yes, those should work. There was a market for upscale handles that would take the Trac II cartridges because the Gillette handles were pretty cheap looking.Quote:

The Trac II was introduced in 1971, and looking at the casting lines inside the base of the stand it appears to be die cast - most likely of zinc based pot metal. The head area that the cartridge slides on to appears to be rough cast and not polished. Not a high market item.

The bad news is that it doesn't really have any collectable value, as it is s modern mass-produced cartridge razor.
The good news is that replacement cartridges are still readily available! And I mean excessively available, considering when it was introduced. I'm fairly certain that I've seen packs of Trac II cartridges in the shaving products aisle of every supermarket & pharmacy that I've been in. So, there's no need to buy a whole case of cartridges through the internet.
The TracII are the best of the cartridge type blades, many still use those. Clean it up and it will probably work and look real nice!
My intention was to sell it, but my first sentiment upon finding it was to keep it. I assumed it to be from the 1940s and 50s but I see I was very wrong about that!
Now that I see the razors are readily available, I believe I will give her a cleaning, keep it to myself, and start using it. I will prob leave the base/stand the way it is, I love the patina it has acquired. I really dig that worn out style. At most just a light rinse but I don't wanna alter the unique finish it has acquired. Same goes for the stem/handle part. It's just the area where the blade slides onto I will clean that way I don't infect my face with whatever lay on it.
Thank you so much everyone. I didn't know this site existed till today and all I've come to see is that you're all very sweet, and passionate about your razors. I will let you know when I receive the blades if they fit as intended. I'll see if I can find a single Trac II blade for sale so I don't waste much money testing it out. If anyone knows where a single or a very small pack can be found for cheap let me know. I have seen suggestions that they may have them in stores, but I checked a few locally and didn't see any Trac II's, so I believe I'm restricted to the online marketplace.

My thoughts precisely; Trac II or GII as it was called in Europe.
Last time I checked (about two years ago), it was not too difficult to find blades for that one - either with or without "lube strip" that Gillette had later introduced for the Trac II.
This one will probably not perform on the same level as the original Trac II, as this one has a solid "rail" to slide the cartridge on to, whereas I remember from the Trac II of the 70's some kind of a inverted "U" profile that helped transport the lather away that was collected between the blades.
The GII/Trac II had served me well way back in the 70's (long before I went into safety razors and then straights) and I was looking about two years ago for some kind of simple razor that I could take with me through airport security.

I went to the Dollar Store and bought a simple razor that came with replacement track II blades for travel by air. No trouble at security at all with them in my carryon.Quote:
