Thanks ALL!! And thanks to Dave who is going to get my razor strop in a few days. UPS sent (I believe) Friday.
I have shaved over a year with a straight, not too long ago, and was on here as well, hence I ended up with some older vintage as well as brand new razors like DOVO, Revisor, Gotta 120, Wacker. a few of the "vintage" look like they had never been used, or at least only a couple of times. But I always had issues shaving in that although I could do a shave with straight, it was not pleasant. I thought perhaps this DOVO I saw on Amazon for $79 (prime free shipping) that was 1/2 hollow might be what I was needing. At least it wasn't the "Deathly Hallows" LOL
Now, when I was shaving with straight, and I shaved last night with a DOVO shavette with the long blade that I just got in, I would shave at an angle trying to mimic what my DE razors were doing, and shaving mostly at steep angle. For example: blade held perpendicular to the face I'd call 90 degrees Ͱ so when I shaved I would be probably at 75-80 deg to the face. Too steep? BTW The DOVO Shavette was pretty nice shave and I really didn't experience that pulling tugging feeling I was getting with the more expensive and re-usable straight razors. I always thought that getting any straight as sharp and smooth and comfortable as a DE blade was only a hope, a desire, but never achievable.
