Thread: Riccardo Tonarini razor

Hello, would anyone here know anything about this Italian razor maker . I came about them googling for lebelle soaps and brought me to this site and then looking around found this (scroll down after his knives). Would be interesting to know member opinion and his use of N690 steel which I never heard of.

N690 is a European steel, I think it is made in Austria. It's a good knife steel and in my opinion comparable to 440C. It should make a fine razor.
I don't know anything about Riccardo though. From the looks of his razors, I'd say he is a knife maker grinding razor shaped objects. Those wide flats on the sides of the spine are going to cause problems when honing and stropping.

Riccardo Tonarini is a well known italian maker.
Pennellificio Omega is a great italian factory.

Recently, the italian maker Riccardo Tonarini has experimented hi-tech materials.
A SanMai structure, with Carbon Fiber outside.
This new line is the Tonarini HiTech.

I love the idea of a straight razor with composite materials.
Specially the last one, called Mobydick.

The san mai construction is interesting.
My preference is for the traditional single steel carbon razor. As to appearance I prefer the "Riva" over all the others. I looked at the website but no prices are posted for it.
