Can some one help me? I just bought a Hovenden's Milling straight razor. Only that name appears on the tang, nothing else. Could any one tell me the year it may have been made?

Take some nice photos of the razor & place them here for us to look at. Members will then give you better detailed responses.

Welcome to SRP Powerflx, somehow I think your razor reads Hovenden Hilling Hollow Ground Razor.

Robert Hovenden was born in 1830, R. Hovenden & Sons Limited was a wholesaler and exporter of pharmaceutical and hairdressing products. The company was established in London. The company sold a wide range of products such as razors, combs, perfumes, toiletries, mirrors and walking sticks. However the company seemed to be best known for being "human hair merchants". More then likely your particular razor was made in Sheffield, and hard to tell its age without seeing any picture but probably something like 1880-1900.
