AreWapienica razors still popular?

Just curious as I’ve been out of the loop and living in a cave for so long.

I’ve still got a new Wapi in its plastic coffin. I bought it and put it aside for a rainy day project, thinking I’d like to have my Dad make a set of scales for it but sadly that ship has sailed. I’ve thought I’d try my hand at honing it but just haven’t gotten around to doing so yet. I just haven’t gotten my nerve up yet.

You don’t see them mentioned much anymore. They jumped onto the market place for very little money, they did start selling for quite a bit more for a short time and then the price dropped off again. It seems new caches of them keep popping up. It seems like an endless supply. Good razors, although slightly off balance with the heavy scales.

They are slightly off balance. That was one reason I was aimed to have Dad make a set of scales. He liked to whittle and did folk art carvings out of whatever he could get his hands on, mainly wood but some rock as well.

Wapis are still great razors... granted thescales are a bit heavy, but the steel, french point and tempering are reaaally good of course... specially for the price they came into market back then.
but i gess what happened is that the market got a bit saturated. They came soo low priced at the begginjng that every one got one... we all agreed they were great.... but really maaaany razors out there are that great. I guess the novelty made then climb in price when the demmand exceeded the offer... but since nowadays its not thd new discovered razor on so many dents simultaneously, people talk less...

Still for the prices they ard selling nowadays i think they are again a really good value for your money!

I may be wrong here but I don't remember them ever being considered really good razors. They were originally made for medical use and required a good bit of work but shaved fine eventually.

I think around that time the Chinese razors started their run and it overshadowed the Polish Razors and also the supply started to dwindle.
