Well first half of what you are asking for that is not peanuts. That blade will require a lot of work. The edge is chipped and the steal maybe crumbly there too. There is lots of pitting and it will require a lite restoration. Some would unpin and have even more hours of work into that. Plus if that scale is truly cracked at the pivot point it will require new scales. Then you still need to do a lot of work sharpening. If you sent that to a restorer for lite restoration and possible new scales it will cost you a few hundred just to make her work. Scales alone can be 100 or more. There is a reason you haven't sold it at that price and have to relist it. Well known vendors who do full restorations and regrinds with high end scales added in only ask about that much or a few more. Someone may bite sooner or later, but sadly it maybe because of the info you got from us.

Now I like to find these old girls in somewhat usable condition do lite restorations sharpen and use them in my everyday shaving. I like to learn about the makers and well as much knowledge as I can about the blade and when it was possibly made. In doing so many on here have been very helpful in finding this info and answers. So I like to give back and help others on here when I can. This is fun and a hobby. I don't usually sell much either and when I do it is to put back into another blade for my personal enjoyment. That is what this forum is about. Not for a business venture.

There is a reason these forums have rules. Like not posting in the forum pics of things you are selling. That is what the paid sale forum is for. If we allowed everyone to do this these forums would be over run with vendors and there products trying to sell and some of them are unscrupulous too.

Sorry but if you want to find info you can dig for it. It is in here. You just need to spend the hours searching for it like the rest of us. There are a lot of places you can look online and you may get lucky.

Again these forums are about sharing info. Not just for you. Are you starting to understand. I am not trying to get on you or insult you here I am hoping you will understand why we do not appreciate when people do this.

Celebrated.... I have to say, that razor looks to be in good condition, for being 200+ years old. All of it can be salvaged, and restored. At least all but the pins, that is.

Ive restored a few of them, by hand. All are put back together, with their original hardware and scales.

My heart is more into restoration, and personal use. But also, should times get tough or for some reason I can't shave with them anymore, I can sell them for waaay more than I paid for them, and still at a respectful price.

I can understand both points of view. On the one hand, when I personally buy on the fleabay, I like to be correctly informed about the pedigree of the item, and I appreciate the OP's commitment to do so. But on the other hand, this particular forum exists in order to meet like-minded individuals and to enrich our hobby - not our wallets. That's why the OP's attitude, while not against the rules, is disappointing to many nevertheless.
May be, for future sake, we should discuss a way to bridge between the two approaches, and to officially anchor it into the rules? How about the OP to state in advance the info is for selling the item? Or for him to offer it here on the forum first - before going to the bay? Any other suggestions?

If a seller wants the collective info of our members, then the members should get first crack at the piece

I'd much rather buy from our BST, over the Bay. First off, the seller can be trusted a lot more, and its going to be a decent razor, least told otherwise.

He could also state his purpose and make a donation to SRP. That way the SRP community would get some benefit too.
