    Default Interesting Palmera logo

    Good Morning Gents,

I have a few different iterations of the Palmera 14 but this logo seems a little different from any that I have seen. If you look closely it appears that the palm tree has and extra branch (frond) and the font of the lettering seems slightly unique. I've scoured the web and haven't been able to find this exact version. Have any of you guys seen this logo out in the wild?

    Thanks in advance,

    Tom

Could easily be a fake, not hard to do when that logo is etched and not stamped?

That was my first thought as well but this razor is not in the best of condition. If it were a fake it seems like it's had a lot of use and would be pretty old. I've never heard of a fake Palmera but 14 blades are very common and I suppose anything's possible.

Here is another image of the logo on a different angle.

Here's a logo from a DE razor box which is close but not exact. I wonder how many different logo they had used over the years?

Having owned loads of 14s through the years including NOS Filarmonica first-generation razors with all the original paperwork, I'm still of the opinion that 14 blanks were are all made by the same manufacturer and I believe they were made in Germany.

I have two Palmera 14s and both scripts appear to be identical except for the font of the numerals. One of the “14” numerals is straight font and the other sits on a base. Note that I changed the scales on the Honey Horn model. Can’t speak to the fake aspect but I have never seen that particular script before.

However the owner of Revisor says that is not true.

I would think that the way that that mark is etched, it makes it quite a late production. The late renditions of Filarmonicas and Henckels were done this way as well.

That and the large variations in the logos makers used may point to it being real. That also does not rule out it being a fake either. It is all down to a best/educated guess. Still an interesting subject though.

My thoughts exactly. Palmera seems to have used a variety of different palm tree outlines and fonts. They even intermingle them within the same product which would drive a modern marketing department bananas
