Thread: From Russia with love?

I sort of fell down an Ebay rabbit hole browsing Soviet razors, and didn't pull any triggers because I literally know 0 about that stuff. We talk about Germany and England a lot, anyone know about Russian straight razors? Good? Garbage? Somewhere in between?

I have not heard anything good nor bad. Mundane-looking to me. They seem quite proud of them. Shipping is a deal-breaker too.
Back when such a thing might have existed, I never found one which was in good condition to buy.
I got over that pretty fast.

I have 2. Like you I was curious so I bought a couple from a seller in Ukraine. Hope he's alright now. Boring to look at as Tom said. Actually I think uninspired is a better word. They shave well enough. The steel is hard like American straights. One is more so than the other. I would take a chance if you see a sexy one that doesn't cost you your family jewels but don't sell the farm for one. They're only exotic because of geography. You're money is better spent on Little Valley steel.

I have one: good shaver.
They do well what they should do without the frills. Like the Wapienica razors that were a hype a few years ago.

I bought a couple of them some years ago. They were NOS. From the 80s I believe.
They are very light and they can shave. I do not consider them good shavers thought. Maybe older razors, from the 70s or 60s could be better, I think.

I have one. I got a great deal on it so I went for it. A no Frills razor. But I found it to shave fine and hold an edge.

I think mine is from the late 60's. At least that was the best info I could find.
