Default $200 budget, what are my options?

    I have £100 ($200) budget for a new razor.

I want it to be an immaculate used one or a brand new one.

Anyone got any ideas as to what I could get for this amount or where the best place to buy it from is? Vendors in the UK are pretty limited. Does anyone have a pimp blade that would fit the bill or can you recommend a good seller?

    Regards

    Rob

For $200, you can get pretty much any quality new blade from Dovo or TI. You might even be able to snag a nice Wacker from over at www.shavingshop.com. The world is your playground at that price!

This is the one I'd go for:

NEW - 6/8 "Le Grelot" - a piece of french straight razor history

    http://www.rasurpur.de/english/shop/shop.html

It's a few pounds more but a very cool piece of steel.

    Good luck!

You crazy Europeans with your fancy "were better then you" economy, back in my day(2003) £100 would only get you about $150. I'll tell you what, if you don't quit with all this "economic growth" nonsense we may just have to see if we can find any OIL on that little island of yours.

Yet he'd be able to purchase way more razor with these $150 than with today's $200... I don't think you can accuse them of economic growth though and I think americans won't touch that free healthcare and $8/galon island with the proverbial 3.048m pole....

A lot of choices - for example classicshaving.com has quite a big selection - really depends on what you like. When buying from US you should consider the VAT tax you'll get charged at the UK customs.

I thought the only thing the UK had was sheep and coal... I bet someone wants coal in their wool stockings for Christmas!

The UK closed its coal mines about 15 years ago when the Ukranians and Croatians were shipping it over cheaper than we can dig it out the ground (cheaper open cast mining is banned in the UK, too unsightly, so we were uncompetitive). The North Sea still has oil in it (for now) although the sheep are dissapearing. The UK is a finance centre now, most heavy industry has gone.

Our "miracle economy" is about to crash, so don't get all jealous on me.

That rasurpur website is awesome. Shame everything is so expensive. There is some nice looking stuff on there. The Grelot does look good and is actually under budget at €100. I might have to save up for this baby though:

Thiers Issard "Fox and Rooster" - Snakewood - Amourette

    Thanks

You could just order something from Classicshaving.com. I ordered my TI 7/8 from there for $140 at the time. Shipping and such are quite decent. You might get hit with taxes when it comes into the country but likely that still won't put it over $200.
