Thanked: 1587There's no option for satin on mirror Joe. What's up with that?

Mirror is really nice. In fact, for a show piece I would pick it. However, I don't own or plan on owning strictly show pieces. I like a good shaver, but I hate to risk the condition to shave with it. I am getting one of the Le Grelots from B&B in a mirror finish, but I will more than likely ruin the mirror finish in fairly short order.

Not sure what satin on mirror is. That being said, the poll only gave me 4 options.
I've always been tempted to do a satin finish on some of the stainless razors. Carbon really needs a bright finish to help with corrosion resistance. Satin always seemed unfinished to me. A satin finish is very easy to achieve, while a mirror takes a ton of extra work (particularly with carbon steel).Last edited by Joe Chandler; 04-29-2008 at 11:13 PM.

I tend to do mirror finishes unless the blade is so pitted I don't want to take off that much steel. In that case I'll do a satin finish that doesn't show the pits as much.

Mirror finish for me . Although I think it would be a good idea to offer a satin finish option at a lower price . That way someone who doesn't have alot of money , could buy a custom razor for a little less money . I might be interested in a 7/8 wedge , spike point , extra long monkey tail , satin finish SS , with "plain jane" scales , at a more "affordable" price
.
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

Thanked: 26I went with satin finish. I've never had a mirror finish and I wouldn't know how to deal with it. I'm sure it'd get scuffed up in little time. Then again, I don't have money to buy showpieces. If I did, I'd get them all in mirror finish.
