    You are correct. HIV is a very fragile virus and does not survive long away from live tissue. Hep B & C virus is much tougher and will remain viable longer and is more of a concern. BUT...why take any chances?

    +1. bleach will kill anything. iodine will also work. be sure not to leave it in too long.

    That is true as long as the environment is non-porous. I do not know the time frame on the Hep-series of viruses, but what str8razor says about HIV is correct, as far as I know. This is why it is almost impossible to contract it from toilet seats or barware.
