Thanked: 3Can anyone ID this possible Duck?
I went ahead and picked up this razor on eBay... dont have it in hand yet.
dubl duck Litetime Blade Type Straight Razor - eBay (item 110253083562 end time May-21-08 20:14:12 PDT)
There was no mention of markings on the tang....but for as cheap as it went...and as good a looking blade that it had...might as well bite for the money.
Do you think its really a Dubl Duck?...if not...what do you think it is?

Being described as having a removable blade, I think it's a shavette. Read this for more information.
I think the listing of a disposable blade as a "lifetime blade" would have kept me away from this one.

Thanked: 13234It is a Dubl Duck it is a Lifetime.... They made 2 different types this one that you see here in the e-bay listing, is used with disposable blades.. The other that is a "real" straight razor, often refered to as the Grim Reaper shown here...
The Reaper version in good shape is a fairly rare razor to find

Thanked: 3Oh.... no....
I looked at the pic again and see that my eyes have fooled me...
I thought that was a whole blade.... I thought the line running down it was a reflection... now I see its where you put a disposable blade in...
Aw....dammit.
Oh well..... another "wall hanger"
Thanks guys. I learned from this one.

Thanked: 79Actually,
That is a genuine duck, but not the one you are looking for I believe. There are two types of lifetime, the first is a regular straight, as pictured above, the other takes replacement blades, much like a shavette, feather, Weck, and other similar razors. I'm not sure if it was intended for shaving or for use as a hairstyling razor, but I've seen one, and they are indeed the real deal. They are also not the ones everyone clamors for.
