Frida!
I'm sorry you had to find out this way. I thought your curves and your beautiful singing voice would be enough for me. But now I realize I need a razor with more substance, one who doesn't bend in the face of every obstacle on um ... my face. Besides you deserve someone better, someone who knows how to handle you and bring out your full (hollow) potential.
It's over....for now.

Thanked: 2I voted for quarter hollow. I have a quarter and singing razor and love them both, but i feel like i get a slightly closer shave out of the quarter.

Quarter hollow is as light a grind as I go. There is the occasional full hollow that I enjoy but these are few and far between.

My favorite 'grind' is a frameback. It has the stiffness of a wedge, the weight and ease of honing of a full hollow, and good edge retention, due to the relative thickness compared to a full hollow.
second choice would be a full hollow. I used to prefer heavier razors, but as time went by I felt myself prefering full hollows and 3/4 hollows.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

well as there is no "all of them" a narrow hollow ground or a frameback are my favorites stiff without the mass.
ssooo did i show you a pic of my new 10/8 solid wedge?Be just and fear not.

I've actually try full and quarter hollow; they are different but I like them both, the flexibility of the full and the weight of the 1/4
Cannot wait to try wedge and half hollow... just need to find the beauties AND the money...

My experience here is limited, but I'll say that my two best shaves were from a 1/8 hollow ground Wm Greaves I picked up from Traveller (I'm told this is close enough to a wedge that I can cheat and call it such, so I will) and the Full hollow Dovo Inox that I picked up from an antique store (pics available via post search or by viewing my album). I voted "wedge" on this poll and this is why: I found that I liked the feel of the stainless full hollow Dovo due to it's rigidity and I found the wedge was just as "present" (hopefully this makes sense) with less effort but was a tad less maneuverable (the greaves is a 7/8 and the dovo is a 5/8, so this may have something to do with it). I think in the pile of ebay razors I have, there is a quarter or half hollow, I just haven't gotten one shaving yet, but I'm thinking this may give me the best of both worlds. Other than these two razors, I have only tried a carbon steel Dovo 5/8 "nothing fancy" and a disposible blade straight that I bought to keep myself on the task of learning to hone.

Thanked: 174I like em all just so long as they are 5/8" or more. The true wedge tends to suck up to the skin and so needs cleaning more, but they reward with a nice close shave and cut through heavy beard growth the best of all shavers. But if I had to choose one as a daily razor it would be a full hollow ground.
