DublDuck 7/8 or 8/8 ?
Quick question for you Duck hunters with more specialized knowledge than I...
I have been asked, and I dont know the answer...
The big ducks.... Did the 7/8 have standard scales with end caps and an unadorned blade face, and only the 8/8 has the scales with the center DublDuck inlay, and the etch?
Of were the scales and etch also available on the 7/8?

It depended on what model & when it was made & who made it would be my guess. I would love to have a Dubl duck that big. The pin on the hinge end & the center pin look replaced to me.

Pivot pin has indeed been replaced. Twas your truly who did it. Reused the original washer The center pin is original. I dont normally take a razor apart, very rarely as a matter of fact, but this one needed a really good cleaning

My understanding was that the ones with the Gold Etch on the blade were the last ones to be made under the DD name when production was done by DOVO
The scales were different also, they are the newer Celluloid rather then the older Catalin

The Dovo's were the last makers for DD period. They are the ones like above with the Solingen etching on the blade. I don't think the size mattered as far as adornment went. It was up to Dovo.

Ok then. So anything is a possibility.
I am claiming this one as a 7/8 based on my belief that while it is a used blade, that not THAT much metal has been honed off to make it a worn down 8/8
I had some one questioning this based on the blade etch, and I try to never misrepresent a blade. I always measure my ducks from the hone wear to edge. I know plenty of people like to try to claim a bigger size based on tip top spine to edge measurements, but I disagree with that tactic.
