Default KRUSIUS BROTHERS Razor (any good?)

a girl i know gave me this razor a few months ago. she says that she was going through some rubbage of a barn that burned down on her property and found this razor. She was going to throw it out but thought of me and thought she'd see if i wanted it. Free was a good price, but i wondered if it was really any good. Hopefully some of ya'll will know

    the nitty gritty,

    first side
    "36" stamped on the tang
    "KB Extra"

Its got Gimps on the top and bottom

    reverse side
    "KRUSIUS BROTHERS"
    "GERMANY"

    the blade has etching of
    "Trade Mark"
    "Krusius Brothers"
    "KB Extra"

It did have a very small chip at the very end of the tip, but i rounded it out ever so slightly. also it is missing the scales. I just wanted to get word as to whether or not this was worth paying to get some scales put on. Other wise it looks to be in very good shape, and also came with the box.

any input would be appreciated, like age etc..

    thanks a ton!

I have a 9/16" Krusius Brothers KB Extra Blue Steel that is a superb shaver.

Krusius Brothers razors are generally very good shavers but following the clues from your post…

The barn burned down and the razor has no scales…
It is possible that the fire caught the razor, melted or burned away the scales, and may have ruined the temper of the steel (is it rusty or discolored?).

You may want to run a file against the spine to make sure the steel is still hard. If the file “bites” the steel, it may have lost its temper... however if the file slides off the steel then you are in luck.

    Best of luck my friend

I have a Krusius brother wedge, and after I hone it, I won't be letting it go.

As mentioned though, the heat may have buggered the razor, but perhaps it can be retempered. Best people to ask would be Mike Blue, Spazolla (sp?) or Josh Earl.

    Default has original box.

Nope, i don't think its been damaged from the fire. the blade was in the box, i would think that the box would have burnt up as well as the scales. There is really no discoloring, not like any i have seen from metal/heat/tempering damage.

looks like this one will be worth restoring! thanks guys, much appreciated!
