    Default Joeseph Elliot Uranium

Has anybody ever heard of this? Silly question...I know there were some products made with uranium back in the 19th and early 20th centuries but surely this razor isn't. Is it?

Your razor was probably made during the years of radioactive quackery from about 1920 to about 1932 when charlatans promoted the health benefits of exposure to radiation.

I don't think you could alloy much radioactive isotopes into steel without ruining its edge holding properties, but you never know...

You might want to check it out with a Geiger counter.

or you might want to check your face after shaving to see if it glows.

Actually I doubt if there was any Uranium in your razor. Just an advertising ploy way back when there were no consumer laws.

Uranium was used as an addative for steel. But relax, casual handeling should not be a significant radiological threat, kind of like how depleated uranium is more of a toxic threat than a radiological threat.

Not likely. Uranium when alloyed in steel will strengthen and harden the steel.

I would happily accept the razor in question, and even run it by a geiger counter in a few weeks.

Pondering Turtle: that was a great link. I couldn't help but read on into the discussion of radiation. I like the paragraph explaining that perhaps one day the antibiotic properties of radiation could be harnessed and a sort of "radiation therapy" could be used to cure cancer.

It's almost like looking at an old, old picture of the moon and seeing places marked where "astronauts might land one day."
