Thread: Feather Artist Club Razor

My feather is a great quick shave razor. If it is late at night(yes, I shave the night before) I can give myself a real quick and BBS shave.

Thanks to Netsurfr who has loaned me his Feather AC and some pro super blades, I've tried one shave using a Feather for the first time. He's graciously offered to let me use his AC for a week or two and therefore get a blade or two of shaves from it.

Certainly I've heard guys say, and one in this post, that they transitioned from the Feather to straight razor shaving.

I'm very glad that I've had the opposite experience and instead have had over a year's worth of practice of daily shaving with a straight razor prior to using a Feather. It gave me the skill, technique and confidence to try the Feather. I'm not going to hang up straight razor shaving by any means after the Feather experience, but after having the skills under my belt, last night's first Feather shave was the closest two pass shave I've ever had. I was all prepared for irritation and razor burn after hearing the stories and I had none. In fact, the shave was a true pleasure in comfort. My face felt just great during and after the shave. I could see what Christian (Kaptain Zero) means when he says it doesn't have the pizazz that straight shaving has since after all, Feather shaving is wet shaving with a disposable blade. Still, what a disposable! I could totally see myself buying a Feather AC if I had to travel more; I think it would be the ultimate travel razor.

If the pro blades are sharper than the pro supers, I don't see a need for that. The pro super blades wiped whiskers. Many guys say that they don't like a straight razor to be "Feather sharp" stating that "Feather sharp" to them means uncomfortably sharp. I feel like I have a new standard as if I want to achieve honing all my razors to allow for such an ultra light touch and ultra smooth comfortable shave.

I think shaving with a Feather will help my honing immeasurably since it's given me a new and positive perspective I did not have before.

It's especially useful for dorm shaving, as it's quite hard to hang a strop in a bathroom with no hooks :[
I started off with regular straights as well, but I mainly use my Feather AC DX's now. You shouldn't use that razor for those full two weeks. They're like crack. I can't stop. I actually wish I grew hair faster so I could shave more than once a week in order to have more amazing time with my Feathers.
