You can try these:
Thiers-Issard Straight Razors
Historical Straight Razors made by Thiers Issard
Al raz.
I bought mine from www.rasurpur.de
Good luck.
Classic shaving(link below) also has some nice ones. Unfortunately, Jagger in the UK appears to have sold out their lot of bargain priced Grelots.
Thiers-Issard Straight Razors
Go to Rasurpur!!!!
They have the 1/4 grind LeGrelots back in stock!
BUY ONE!!!!!!!
I ordered a 1/4 grind Pink Ivory scaled Le Grelot from Rasurpur... I'm expecting delivery next week. I've heard nothing but good things about Martin and he's been really helpful to me, so I suggest goin' for it... It looks like the Pink Ivory razors are out of stock, but there's still the plastic-handled 1/4's.
I wish I would have ordered two, though. :-(
I am cleaning up 2 right now that I intend to offer in the classifieds, or on eBay, pretty soon. If you want, I can post pics.
Also, anyone know if those come pre-honed? If no, how is the honing service ar rasurpur?
Hello igitur55
I would be very interested in your razors when will thy be ready and where will thy be?
Thanks
nice razor i love my 1/4 grind wcker need to have 1 of these also as far as shave readyness the ones from martin are good ive heard but everyones definetion of shave ready is different they can all use a little tweaking to get them as you like them to shave
I got a 1/4 grind LG from martin and it was very nicely honed. I have my own way of doing it, but it was definitely shave ready for me.
I received one of the 1/4 grind LG's in the mail today from RasurPur. Very impressive looking razor. I stropped it on linen and leather and shaved and was shocked at the smoothness. I am very pleased with this deal! Thanks to you Martin for a great razor.
TI full hollow and 1/4 grind Le Grelot comparison. Both are 6/8.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is all the fuss about this razor?
Also, can someone give an approx. value of postage to the UK when ordering from Rasurpur.de
Write to Martin at info@rasurpur.de in English and he will answer all your questions.
I have three Le Grelot razors, two quarter and one full hollow. I'm glad I have them as it seems the cat is out of the bag.
They're not Pumas, but they are a very fine production razor.
Just ordered the Noir 1/4 ground, and some other bits (4 sided padle strop and the TI 7 day storage box).

Ok I have been shaving with a straight as most of you know for 6 months, its been slow but steady, and I am HAVING fun. Yesterday I received my new razor from rasurpur RasurPur Online Shop - The finest tools for a perfect shave and let me tell you its is great. I have many nice razor (too many according to my wife) but this one is without equal in my collection. It was 100 percent shave ready and let me just say it is without question the best shave I have had to date. I have a tough beard and this thing slid without effort across my face. I must thank the nice people from rasurpur. I wish they were a little less money I think I would buy one more for a rainy day. The 1/4 grind makes less noise than my full hollow, that the only bad part.

Pretty fantastic, isn't it? It was the first razor I bought after coming back to straights 1 year ago - 1st time was 19 yrs ago, and I could not have asked for a better re-entry experience than the 14/ grind Le Grelot. Smoothest shaver of the ones I've tried.

I happen to have a restored Le Grelot that I'm willing to let go. I posted this razor on SRP classifieds a whole ago, check out here.
PM me if interested.
In case you haven't bought your 1/4 Le Grelot yet, I can definitely recommend you to order yours from Martin at rasurpur.de.
I just received mine (which was also my first order with him) and, oh Boy, :dropjaw:, what a shave! Smooth as anything you might want to imagine. Martin's definition of shave ready is most definitely compatible with my own. Highly recommendable!
I received mine yesterday and after closely analyzing it, I decided to mail Martin.
Martin's answers are in italic bold.
Have you found the same issues than me?
- Hone wear on the spine of about .5 mm thickness
That it completely normal. Sometimes it is thicker sometime a little bit less. Otherwise the straight razor will not get properly sharp. In the oldern days they were able to sharpen just a thin line but this steel is much harder and they cannot do it anymore.
This razor will give you pleasant shaves for the next 50 years or longer. So there is no worry about the "wear".
- The scales are warped on the pivot end
That is normal too. Historical blanks are quite hard to scale and the process is 100% done by hand.
A straight razor is a tool not jewlery. ;-)
- The blade doesn't close centered
Same here. Historical blanks are hard to scale and it is quite normal that the blade is not centered or will get off center while using it. Please refer to my download section
at Home of the English site of Rasurpur.de
There is a sheet which explains this and gives some help. (Opening your
razor.pdf)
weird. my legrelot from martin is perfectly centered, and no warping. what's hard about scaling a historical blade?
my blade is center in the scales, but the blade does have an imperfection along the spine. The razor works fine though.
Crom
My blade is perfect in terms of geometry. The scales are slightly warped on the pivot pin end.
I don't know what's hard about pinning historical blades too. I've pinned pretty old razors and never had any problems. The problem here is the scales that dressed this blade. I'm sure that if the scales were perfect, then there was nothing wrong with this razor.
Can anyone with a 1/4 Le Grelot tell me about what they weigh? Trying to decide whether to order one. I'm trying to find something heavier, but am sure how much. Also, I've never used anything bigger than a 5/8. Not sure how that would work out.
It's a hefty razor, that feels different from, say, a heavy wedge, because of the heavy blade and light scales. It works, well, though. You can find some reviews here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...-4-hollow.html.
Yeah, I've been reading the reviews on them for a couple of weeks. I shave mainly with a Dovo half hollow 5/8. I'd like to try something a little stiffer, and I think a little extra weight would be helpful as well. Started looking for a 1/4 hollow 5/8 and ended up looking at the Grelot.
It's very hard to get an idea what they might feel like just reading. I haven't handled many razors, so even detailed explainations leave me wondering. I'm on the verge of ordering one, but I need to slow down the razor-oriented acquisitions.
