I started out with a feather, and I too thought that no blade would ever compare to that of a feather, but once I gained more experience, I soon found that you can get a real straight, almost as sharp as a feather. I had one get as sharp as a feather professional blade, but I didn't like it because it reduced the quality of the shave.

I recommend you first gain experience with shaving with these new implements before making such claims. Get a real straight which has been honed by an experienced person, practice with it and you will come to learn that it is much better than shaving with a disposable blade razor. I'm not saying you are wrong, because you can certainly get good shaves from feathers no doubt about it, but you can also get just as good and sometimes better shaves with a real straight once you have experience.
    +1 I totaly agree!
I am shaving with real straights for 33 years. It was my first shaving instrument -my grandfather was a barber- and I don't believe that it is possible to get a better shave with anything else.
I am not fan of the ultimate sharpness for a quality shave
I dont like the feeling of a shavette or a feather and believe me I have the experience.
And I like to adjust razor sharpness with my hones to get the most comfortable shave ( this is imposible with other shaving instruments )
For those reasons I am shaving with straights and I am a happy father with 2 sons both shaving with real straights...
