Hi All,

I have a 7 day set of Joseph Rodgers & Sons in good condition and hardly used. Scales are ivory dated around 1840/70. I'm thinking of restoring the blades further to bring back full lustre.

Has anyone any idea of how much the set is worth?

Photo's would help as condition is a major factor. The market dictates the price largely though. If you were to put them on the bay they may make $150, or they may make $750. It depends on the day, how much the bidders have had to drink, whether two crazies both want them, & so many other things. A very nice set has just sold in the classifieds & they were a nice price.

Like Ben said, pics would really help, Depending the condition those ivory scales should already catch a nice figure.

If they are hardly used, undamaged, and ivory scaled then even without photos I have to guess they are worth at the very least $250

Value depends largely on the condition of the razors . Are the blades in good condition , ie: no chips , cracks , or excessive or uneven hone-wear ? Are the scales in good shape ? What do YOU think they're worth ? Ask yourself , what you would pay for them , if you were the buyer .

Do you have any experience restoring razors? If not, then this should probably not be your first project if you care about those razors.

More to the point, we do not allow people to use our site to determine market value of a razor. If you have no idea what something is worth, then you probably have no idea how to judge the quality of what you are selling either. Since this is your first post here, I have no way of knowing whether you really want to restore this set, or are only here to figure out what to sell it for.

So to answer your question: it depends on the condition of the blades, the scales and the box, and can range anywhere from 100 to 1000$, depending on the specifics.

Don't take it personally, it is a generally accepted practice to introduce your self when you sign up to a forum, and questions about value or critique of other peoples kit (not the case here) is perhaps not the best introduction, that is all. Every one has got to start somewhere, right?

This is a great community and you will receive more help and advice than you could wish for if you decide to restore those razors, or others, and use them - which hopefully is your ultimate goal.
