I just started collecting and shaving with straight razor's back in march and having a killer time! I think I scored pretty good today with this Ivory scaled razor made by sheffield. It's a Geo Wolstenholm & Sons, celebrated I X L (?)
Washington Works Sheffield. I have pics, let's see if i can get 'em on here!
Can anyone tell me anything about my new find I can tell you i paid $60 for this. How much do you guys think it's worth? The etching on the scale is all there just has some ink or color rubbed out of it, should i fill the etch back with some ink or leave it as is? What do you all think? I also scored a "Hans Otto Deutsch" w/ green handle and silver inlay $40 bucks! More too, I'll stop here.:)

Also, I'm not an expert, but I'd say that $60 for a Sheffield blade in real ivory handles in near pristine condition is one heck of a deal. I don't see a razor in the lot that I wouldn't be proud to own.
*edit - I'd also like to know where the heck you've been antique shopping. I've never seen anything remotely close to the condition of those razors on ebay unless the prices were way higher than that, and I've never seen anything in that condition at any price at an antique store.

The brummel and the sheffield I bought in the condition as shown. The rest I cleaned up with one of them buffing cloths and just some T.L.C. ya know!
My wife makes jewelry so I already have access to a number of handy tools! Thankyou guys for the great input I sure appreciate it!
