Cutlery World brand?

Anyone have any info Cutlery world brand? Someone is selling on another site and looks like a decent razor. Just wondering if it is a reputable brand. It is stamped solingen, so at least it would appear to be german. Seller also states it has bakelite scales which would lead me to believe it is of the vintage type. Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Tried google and encountered the same problem. As your only the second response I'm guessing it's not all that popular a brand.

To tell the truth I've never heard of it and that's why I googled it. If you want a good razor though I'd buy from the classifieds here.

there are a LOT of razors coming from "Solingen". Even crappy chinese/pakistani blades. It's a loophole in the import law (or something) as I understand it.

Point being this: if it's new, and it's not one of the few reputable major makers... it's junk.

Joe your right about that and there are a bunch of them going around especially on ebay. You'll some some garbage about a vintage razor that looks brand new and they all look the same for the most part. Yep Paki razors which are garbage. Very brittle steel etc. and hard to put an edge on. Rule of thumb is if it says Solingen but nothing else then it's most likely garbage.

Cutlery World Razors were sold in the 70's I believe in various cutlery type shops. They are usually stamped Solingen and many have the "First Class" etching on the blade. They are basically equivalent to the Dovo razors unless you happen to run across one that functions like the world esteemed "Chronik". Kidding aside, they are usually very decent razors that are easy to hone and good to shave with. My first straight razor was one of these.
