can you get a picture to show us?
A bend in the blade, like a warp? Or are you talking about a ding, nick or chip?
the hardened steel would shatter on impact before it bends so it's eithther you're talking about chipped edge, or a crack. in the first case you probably still have a razor in the second case you don't.
gugi great .
yes Picture will help a lot and as said before chip easy to fix crack say goodbuy to it.
I agree with Gugi but I will say that I once bought a 7/8 Solingen listed on ebay with a poor photo. It was an obscure brand and I can't remember the maker but when I received it I found that in the center of the blade for about an eighth of an inch from the bottom of the bevel the blade had a belly in it. A bend as it were.
I think it must have been poorly heat treated or tempered because it should have broken rather than bent but there it was. I returned it to the seller and got my ten bucks back but had to eat the shipping. There was no fixing something like that IMO.
I recently got a blade where the bevel was bent in a wavy pattern over an inch or so. It honed out alright, but it was wierd. It was like, one side for 1/16th then to the other for 16th etc etc. Can't imagine how that happened.
this is the best picture i could get. it's a bend, not a chip. can i hone this back to normal?
That's what my wave bend looked like... only more minor. You can probably get it out but you'll lose a lot of steel.
"From the pic"
Yes that should hone out...Simple rule of thumb to go by with edge damage, if it is contained inside the bevel , it should be fine with aggressive honing tactics...
If it is larger than the bevel it is Restoration, and requires a different approach..
