Default One of my best shavers- Friedr. Baurmann & Sohne 96

So this was my first razor, it was honed by Sham and maintained by me (it loves the Nakayama...). Its a 4/8s 1/4 hollow Friedr Baurmann & Sohne, Solingen, 96. I love this blade. It is stained and has a few (like 4 or 5) tiny little pits and no rust. I have made no effort to clean it up because it was my first blade and I kinda like the rough'n'ready look. Scales are tight and it centers, blade takes a great smooth edge, so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I love the shape of this blade- relatively large barber's notch with a filed tip (maybe custom- this was how I found it though so probably original) and a built in smile at the toe (great IMO- like a round point but without the boring look- I know it was made this way as the hone wear is even, not toe-heavy as most hone-neutered points are). The tang (tail?) is nice too... its relatively wide and flat and has a nice curve to it- sits perfectly against my ring finger. Only downside... no jimps...

Sorry for the webcam pics. Just felt I had to post this as I talk about it often. Oh. BTW- cost me $9.
